The 45 degree face carries a 2 mm land, so it cuts a clean bevel and then rides on the land instead of digging in. In Grade 5 it holds its edge through a studio session of dry trimming.
Why it is shaped like that
A foot ring cut with a rounded tool reads as soft from across the room. The land is what keeps the cut straight once the bevel is started.
Living with it
- Wipe the face while the swarf is still damp and the cutting edge stays crisp.
